Historical Background

  • 1927
  • The Central Hospital was established in 1927 consisting of an OPD, and one Medical Officer lncharge. Dispensary, Dressing Room and Two small Wards for Male and Female patients.
  • 1954
  • Another Hospital with the name of Saidu Hospital was founded in the capital of state Saidu Sharif. mainly for female patients called Zanana Hospital
  • 1958
  • A 15 beded children Hospital was established in the already existing Red Crescent building adjacent to the saidu hospital.
  • 1969
  • Merged of the Ex-State with Pakistan.
  • 1971
  • All the three Hospitals i.e. Saidu, Central, Children and T.B were amalgamated and given the name of Saidu Group of Hospitals, Saidu Sharif, Swat having 310 beds.
  • 1974.
  • A 60 beded Eye/ENT and children wards were added to Saidu Group of Hospitals, Swat.
  • 1981
  • A House job Doctor Hostel was added to Saidu Group of Hospitals Swat,. for 30 Doctors.
  • 1987
  • 15 Beded Casualty was added to Saidu Group of Hospitals Swat.
  • 1988
  • l2 Beded ICU and Nurses Hostel was added to Saidu Group of Hospitals Saidu Sharif Swat.
  • 1993 to 1997
  • 100 Beded wards comprising Orthopeadic, Gynae, Psychiatry and Children completed and commissioned.
  • September. 2000
  • Declared as Saidu Teaching Hospital, for the students of Saidu Medical College Swat vide Notification No. SOH-II/2-58/2000/PMDC, Dated 25-09-2000, by the Government of NWFP Health Department Peshawar.

  • The hospital is functional through two wings 1.5 Km apart.
  • Declared as teaching hospital for Saidu Medical College in the year 2000 (September).
  • The Hospital provides curative care in all the basic specialties including intensive and cardiac care services.
